Taskfeed 9 - Upgrade Steps

When upgrading there are some steps you will need to follow if you have previously customised Taskfeed. This guide will describe the changes and how to apply them in your scenario.

If at any point you are unsure please contact support@taskfeedapp.com to help you make the right decision.

Created Custom Fields?

In Taskfeed 9 we have replaced the old pop-up edit screen with a new Record Detail Pane and a new Edit Modal screen. If you have added custom fields to the old pop-up edit screen using the editPopup fieldset then you will need to follow these steps.

There are three new Fieldsets in Taskfeed 9 that replaces the old editPopup field set.
  1. Record Detail Pane
This field set is used to display fields in the new Record Detail Pane. These fields will be view only.

  2. Edit Modal Fields
This field set is used to display the fields in the main section of the Edit Modal screen.

  3. Edit Modal Fields (Hidden Options)
This field set is used to display the fields in the hidden/collapsed "Advanced Options" section at the bottom of the Edit Modal screen.
You will need to edit these Field sets to include your own custom fields.

Create Account or Opportunity Lookup fields?

In Taskfeed 9 we have included Account and Opportunity fields as standard. This may mean that when you upgrade you see two versions of these fields. This will be very confusing for your users. Follow these steps to hide these fields using field level security.
  1. Navigate to Setup > Objects > Taskfeed Board
  2. Select the field called Account with the API Name taskfeed1__Account__c (select the name, do not select Edit)
  3. Select the button Field Level Security, then uncheck all profiles that has this checked as Visible
Repeat this process for the Opportunity field on the Taskfeed Board object and also the Account and Opportunity fields on the Taskfeed Task Object.

If you are using the standard Taskfeed User permission set then you should Clone this to create a Custom Taskfeed User permission set. With the custom permission set you can then remove access to the standard Taskfeed Account and Opportunity fields on the Taskfeed Board and Taskfeed Task objects.
